How it All Began... Our Story
My own dressage horse
Freddy is a poor traveller. He was difficult to load, but was quite relaxed for
the first 30 minutes. But then – in mid-transit – he’d paw, stomp and push
against the chest bars and breaching gates. He became so stressed that I
struggled to keep the car on the road. Freddy is a 700kg warmblood. And as you
can probably imagine, his antics in the float were incredibly stressful for me,
and his anxiety a danger to him.
So I set about
designing a float that gave Freddy a more comfortable and safe ride. And it
took more than one try to get it right, so Freddy (and our client’s horses) can
travel in comfort, safety, and style. Our first attempts at designing a float
for him missed the mark on a number of points. And we had to deal with a number
of downfalls before things started to fall into place.
In the End Quality Trumps Everything Else!
We eventually enlisted
a local horse float builder to assist us with assessing the quality of the
floats for our own use. We also engaged an automotive engineer to assess the
design of the floats, and compliance to ADR. Both gave the floats glowing
references.
Once we were happy
with the results of the professional reviews, we started using the floats for
our own personal use. We were pleased with how our horses travelled and the
features of the floats.
After much trial and
error the Equiluxe “Frederick” was
born. This float has been designed for the bigger horse. We have since designed
additional floats to accommodate horses of all sizes. We also offer a custom design
service so you and your horses can have the float you’ve both dreamed of!
